The panini sandwich seems to be the in thing right now. Versatile and trendy, these hot, pressed sandwiches can be found at just about any restaurant or sandwich shop. Now, with the Hamilton Beach 25450 Gourmet Panini Press, you can create panini’s right in your own kitchen. This sandwich press is designed to accommodate sandwiches of all sizes and thicknesses from one slice of ham and cheese to a great pile of roast beef. The floating lid, which also locks for cleaning or to make open-grill snacks, is sure to give you the right fit and locks in place with the turn of a side dial. The nonstick, ribbed cooking surface is roomy at twelve by eight inches.
The press preheats, with a light to indicate this, and rises to a hot temperature to ensure a crispy outside and melted inside. For storage, the unit locks which enables you to store it either vertically or horizontally. Overall, customer reviews on Amazon were positive. Some noted the panini press was just that – a press for sandwiches with little versatility. Others found it a challenge to melt the insides of a sandwich without burning the crust.

Customer reviews are a great way to research a product and find out if it truly delivers. Here are a few owner comments from Hamilton Beach 25450 Gourmet Panini Press reviews.
It does just what it says: It “presses” the two sides of a sandwich together and they cook simultaneously without having to turn with a spatula. The grids are simple and easy to wipe off & clean. I use olive oil on my bread instead of margarine or butter so feel it is more healthy from that standpoint. The sandwich is made quickly and is crispy and delicious.
I’m enjoying a panini as I write this! Love the hinge less design, the locking mechanism, the overall quality of the press. I read a few reviews that I respectfully disagree with. 1. It takes maybe 2 minutes to heat up. (although the green light is very faint when it comes on, maybe the reviewer doesn’t notice when it comes on?) 2. I’ve made about 10 sandwiches (3 weeks) and in 5 minutes the sandwiches are super melty and warm inside and nicely toasted and crisp outside.
